Alternative Sprouts Recipe

Alternative Sprouts Recipe

25th December without a traditional dinner would be an absolute sin! Well, it would be in our house anyway. That means turkey, roast potatoes, sprouts and a few other faves, all of which need to get in my belly!

Don’t get me wrong, there are a few things that we tend to leave in the Supermarket, Parsnips for one. No thank you, I’d like a drama-free Christmas dinner, please. There is something about the sprout however, that would make it less festive if we did leave those off of the plate. Whether the kids or grown-ups liked it or not, sprouts are here to stay, Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without them.

With that, I’ve tried different ways of cooking them. Last year, we roasted them, which did make them less soggy and more flavoursome. The main difference I guess was the fact that the flavour wasn’t boiled away.

This year, I’ve tried and tested a recipe. Even the kids didn’t complain! Cheesy Chrimbo Sprouts, you can’t go wrong with cheese loaded sprouts, and better yet this dairy-free version is great for vegans too. Asda’s FREE FROM cheese’s are gluten, dairy, wheat and soya free. Like I said further up this post…GET. IN. MY. BELLY.

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.
Peel your sprouts guys! Remove the outer layers to reveal a brighter and healthy looking leaf.
Boil on medium heat for 7 minutes.
Remove and place on a baking tray, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with grated cheese. Place equal amounts of both types of cheese.
Sprinkle with cracked black pepper and a pinch of salt. If your guests aren’t afraid of a spicy kick, I’d add some Crushed Chillies too!
Pop in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.
