Sareta & Cee Catch Up
In this week’s episode, Sareta and Chioma talk to Le’Nise Brothers, author, podcaster, yoga teacher and registered nutritionist specialising in women’s health, hormones and the menstrual cycle.
Le’Nise tells the ladies about the journey from her successful but demanding, sexy career in marketing and advertising to becoming a mother and deciding to do things on her terms. She retrained as a nutritionist and yoga instructor to build a career that could work around her family, leading to everything she is doing today. Her current path may seem a million miles away from where she started. Still, we acknowledge that her skills have been transferable and continue to support her in her career journey.
This weeks guest
Le’Nise is the host of the Period Story podcast. Each episode features a guest who recollects and shares the memory of their first period. Topics include how they learned about periods and menstrual health, what they know now that they wish they knew back then and everything in between.
In “You Can Have A Better Period“, Le’Nise takes us through each cycle phase, including clear and practical nutrition and lifestyle changes. The book explains which supplements work and the key stress management habits we can implement to bring long-lasting and sustainable changes to our hormones and menstrual health. In Western society, we have accepted a cultural narrative that periods are supposed to be painful, emotional and messy.
This book is a practical guide that helps women change the way they look at their period and menstrual cycle to harness the power of the fifth vital sign finally.
More From Our Guest
“I work with women who struggle with sugar cravings, hormonal bloating & acne and low energy and help them understand their menstrual cycle. The intensive work I do with my clients helps them get control over hormonal issues such as PMS, fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, heavy, missing, irregular & painful periods, and perimenopause. I love seeing my clients regain their spark, improve their health and boost their energy.”- Le’Nise Brothers.
“How To Have A Better Period: A Practical Guide to Calmer and Less Painful Periods” by Le’Nise Brothers. A practical guide to understanding your cycle and balancing your hormones with nutrition, lifestyle changes and yoga for calmer, less painful periods.
‘Every young woman would benefit from reading this book to help them understand their hormones and cycles and what they can do to help’ – Amelia Freer, one of the UK’s leading nutritional therapists and healthy eating experts.
Untitled. A poem by the great poet Lucille Clifton
some dreams hang in the air
like smoke. some dreams
get all in your clothes and
be wearing them more than you do and
you be half the time trying to
hold them and half the time
trying to wave them away.
their smell be all over you and
they get to your eyes and
you cry. the fire be gone
and the wood but some dreams
hang in the air like smoke
