Backyard Cinema; A Quirky Cinema for Movie Buffs

Backyard Cinema; A Quirky Cinema for Movie Buffs

We’re definitely a movie loving family. We don’t necessarily see every single new release in the cinema, but we’ll have a catch up when the DVD comes out. We love movies!

Browsing through Instagram I came across a sponsored post by this awesome looking cinema, the Backyard Cinema. This place looked so fab! Situated in London, not only did I think it was in a great location , but it was a amazing place for for us to take the kids… well, the bigger two.

Backyard Cinema– Backyard Cinema is now a roaming, theatrical, cinema that shows a wide selection of films in a variety of iconic, unusual and immersive locations both in and outdoors around London. Often creating a physical world surrounding the movie using in-depth set builds, actors and live music, each show becomes a unique evening out, whilst staying true to its original ethos: somewhere cool you can watch your favourite films with great food, drinks and all your mates.

The experience alone is so wonderful, when I told my kids where we were going they didn’t seem impressed. I think they assumed it was just a normal cinema showing a film that one of them had already seen. I’m not very good at explaining things. We started off going through a little cave and used a rope swing to get across some awesomely realistic looking boulders. The kids absolutely loved it, and so did I (I’m a big kid at heart). We settled down into some oversized comfy bean bags after buying a whole heap of sweets (and cocktails for the grown ups). Hook was the film of the day, which to be honest, wasn’t my first choice. As I had been a bit relaxed selecting tickets The Goonies wasn’t available. It was entirely my fault as I should have realised that this fab theatre gets sold out pretty quickly, so you need to book early!

Even so, I actually enjoyed the movie, the atmosphere, the chilled vibes, the staff, everything was so brilliant! Not to mention the cocktails… yes, two or three down, I felt like I was in the lost world! I’m pretty sure we hummed the Jurassic Park Theme all the way home.

So, to conclude, I have to give this place a huge thumbs up! We will definitely go again, so much so we’re eyeing up their new theme- Winter Night Garden. I’m expecting full Narnia vibes guys, I can’t wait to start the festive period with a large cocktail (yes another one) and Elf!
